Unforgivable Presumption

Contrary to what others have written, it does not install itself as the default program for “all” file types.

HOWEVER, it DOES grab default for MANY file types, and that is a problem. No program should assume that it will be the default for any file type without asking first. For EACH file type for which it wants to be the default program.

This program needs to pop a dialogue box and ask permission before it grabs control of files. Period. Until then, it gets one star which is the lowest I can give it.

Update: It is now later and I am still finding new file types this program has “grabbed”. Each time it requires going into “Get Info”, unlocking with my password, changing “Open with…” to the correct program, and closing. And even then Finder sometimes doesn’t change the icon back to the original program’s.

This thing works as claimed, but it has turned out to be more of a nuisance than it has been worth.
