When I opened the support link, there’s no mention of this program that I could find….Who really owns this app? It replaces itself as the default for many different file types. That’s not what I want. That’s not what I expected. When it opens, it opens an ugly ad that’s huge and demands your attention. I deleted it. If you need checksums, just google mac checksums. It’s easy to do from terminal.

Contrary to what others have written, it does not install itself as the default program for “all” file types. HOWEVER, it DOES grab default for MANY file types, and that is a problem. No program should assume that it will be the default for any file type without asking first. For EACH file type for which it wants to be the default program. This program needs to pop a dialogue box and ask permission before it grabs control of files. Period. Until then, it gets one star which is the lowest I can give it. Update: It is now later and I am still finding new file types this program has “grabbed”. Each time it requires going into “Get Info”, unlocking with my password, changing “Open with…” to the correct program, and closing. And even then Finder sometimes doesn’t change the icon back to the original program’s. This thing works as claimed, but it has turned out to be more of a nuisance than it has been worth.

The application does what it says but all of its behavior is very nefarious and malicious. For example, it takes over all file type assocations and constantly nags you with ads for other suspicious utilities. I don’t recommend buying this application until it’s been through a thorough security review by the community and by Apple.

I didn’t find it helpful and it was nerly imposible to delate, it took me several months to figure out a way to get rid of it (I actally didn’t think it was posible till today).

Haven’t gotten to play with it much, but it’s been quite easy to use with the time I’ve use it.

This grabs hold of every file and I come up w nothing. I can’t figure out how to delete the stupid thing. Wish I’d never downloaded it

This app used to be really useful. It was one I used frequently and would have paid a dollar, or maybe two, for as a utility. With one of the recent updates though, it installed as the default viewer for almost every file type. The result is that almost every file you double-click on opens up to File Info Pro instead, along with several pop-up ads. You can reset the default app for a filetype by opening Get Info for that file in the Finder, changing the app in the Open With drop down, and clicking Change All. It’s annoying to have to do this, and they could reset it again with the next update. For me, the annoyance factor outweighs the utility for me at this point, so Ive deleted the app.
